When I turned 40, those over this magic age welcomed me to their "club". In turn, I did the same with Ken on Sunday when he turned 40. Turning 40 apparently has it's perks. I never knew such a club existed. But why would I if I didn't meet the criteria to join? This almost secret right of passage is veiled in transparency and unobvious to those under 40. It appears to outsiders as merely a milestone. But reaching that milestone, elevates you, automatically, to club member status. And you are in good company! It's a curious thing.

We celebrated Ken's birthday at the Angus Barn on Sunday. My mom's birthday is also this week, so we were fortunate to be able to celebrate her birthday with her as well. We had a cozy, intimate dinner for 15! It wouldn't be a party without my sister Terri (pictured with my dad) and her husband Chris (pictured with my mom) who are always the life of the party.
Of course all of our kids were there, and looked soooooo nice. They clean up pretty good.
And our good friends Richard and Wanda Seate, with their beautiful daughters Amanda and Abby, made the long trip in from Wilmington, NC to celebrate with us. Wanda's mother, Faye, also joined us and did we have fun! I think Faye and I could get into some real trouble together!

Dinner was fabulous as always! And after our carnivorous feast, Joe, Tom, Logan and Abby got to visit the kitchen where they made thier own ice cream sundaes and decorated birthday cakes for Ken and 'Mammy'. What a treat! Carmen, our server for the evening, was fantastic.
We even managed to get some nice photos of the kids with Dad on his birthday (before they all disrobed in a mad frenzy).
I believe it was a successful evening. Happy Birthday, Sweetie! Welcome to the Club........
